We’re only weeks away from election day in BC, and thanks to supporters like you the $10aDay campaign has built an incredible amount of momentum. Now we need your help to get to the finish line and make sure that this election, we make access to affordable, quality child care a reality in BC.
We've had a lot of people ask us — "How can I get involved and support the $10aDay campaign?".
Here are the top 10 ways you can make a difference:
1. Email your local candidates
Since launching our new online tool last week, we’ve already had close to 1,000 supporters send emails to their local MLA candidates. Simply enter your postal code into our online tool, and your local candidates will be targeted automatically. You can send our pre-written message, or customize it to add your own voice.
2. Tweet your local candidates
With the popularity of our “Email your Local Candidates” tool, we’ve decided to launch two additional tools to help you reach out to your local candidates. With our first new tool, simply enter your postal code and you will be able to automatically target your local candidates on twitter.
3. Call your local candidates
We’ve also launched another online tool that you can use to call your local candidates to ask them to support the $10aDay Plan. Enter in your phone number and postal code, and the tool will automatically generate a call to your phone number and connect you via phone with your local candidates. We’ve also included some suggested questions and talking points that you can use when speaking with your candidates.
4. Attend an All Candidates meeting and ask your local candidates to support the $10aDay Plan in person.
With the election in full swing, your candidates will be hosting local debates and knocking on doors in your neighbourhood. These are key opportunities to let them know that you are voting for child care. Check out our guide to talking to your local candidates about BC's child care crisis and the $10aDay Plan.
5. Mobilize on the ground in your local community
We need your help mobilizing on the ground in your local community to spread the word about the $10aDay Plan. Sign up to volunteer, and we’ll mail you a package of outreach materials that you can use to help spread the word about the $10aDay Plan in your local community. Ways you can mobilize on the ground include:
- Putting up posters in child care spaces, coffee shops, community centres, and other visible locations in your neighbourhood
- Leaving drop cards in your neighbours’ mailboxes and on their doorsteps
- Collecting petition signatures in your community and mailing us your completed petition sheets
- Getting your friends, neighbours, and family to sign the $10aDay petition by texting ‘SIGN’ to 604-670-4911.
We are a small organization that relies on help from supporters like you, so spending even an hour of your time spreading the word about the $10aDay Plan in your local community will have a huge impact. Sign up to volunteer today!
