Dear Fellow Parents,
My name is Amanda and my family pays $1300 a month in child care fees for our two children. That's $15,600 a year. I work, I pay bills, I pay taxes and I am fed up with high child care fees...are you?
Lately I have been thinking about how much paying $10 a day for child care would help my family, and I know it would help you too. Think about what you would do if you were paying just $200 a month in child care fees.
Economic assessments estimate that the $10 a Day Child Care Plan will pay for itself in just a few years by boosting the economy and improving parent work force participation. Not only is a public system of child care good for parents like us, it's good for the economy.
The public education system and the public health care system aren’t "hand outs”. They are basic necessities of our modern Canadian economy and society. So is child care.
The government is currently running pilot programs across the province for the $10 a Day Plan, but only families who attend those programs benefit from the low cost. If the government fully implements the $10 a Day Plan, many many more families (like yours) could access affordable child care.
We are so close to realizing our goals.
To encourage the government to fully implement the $10 a Day Plan we are coordinating a hand written letter campaign to tell politicians how affordable child care can help families like ours.
